This has been a challenging year for so many of us and there is little doubt that it has had a large impact on our overall mental wellbeing. Thankfully there are many leaders in the mental health sector like Marc Leder who have been coaching so many of us through this difficult time. Now being at your best mentally is of course something which we need right now but generally speaking it is also something that can greatly help us in our daily lives. We can therefore take the tips of the experts and put them into practice moving forward, in order to be at our very best.
Meditation
Forget any ideas which you have around meditation and whether or not this is something which you should be doing, it is a practice which will help you in many ways. Just 15 minutes of meditation per day is enough to center your focus to increase your concentration and to help you to better organize your thoughts. There are many apps and guide videos which can help to teach you how to do it and the truth is that it really isn’t difficult at all.
Reading
You may have seen those get-rich-quick ads which tell you all about how the world’s greatest CEOs reading 500 books per year or some garbage such as that. Whilst this is of course BS, the truth is that reading will make you sharper and it will greatly increase your critical thinking. If you are able to read for just 30 minutes each day you will find that your brain is firing on all cylinders.
Sleep
One of the most important aspects of making sure that you are always at your best is to get enough sleep each night. If you don’t get enough sleep then you do not give your body the time that it needs to rest and recuperate, to repair cells and to process information. This is why when you have a bad night’s sleep you struggle to think quickly and everything feels like it can get on top of you quite easily. Get that sleep in and you will find that you are more positive, more confident and way more organized.
Hydration
Believe it or not one of the most common reasons why people are not at their best mentally is because they are not properly hydrated. What happens when your body is dehydrated is that it has to take fluids from elsewhere in the body to provide to the most important areas. This means that your body will then slow down and reduce certain functions which it deems unnecessary and this is what can leave us feeling tired and lacking energy. Always make sure that you have taken steps to maintain a good level of hydration so that you can be at your absolute best.
These are the steps to take if you want to make sure that your brain is firing and that your mental welling improves.
