Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf passes away at 78

Dubai: Former Pakistan President and military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf passed away on Friday, as per reports by Pakistani Waqt News media. Pervez Musharraf has been hospitalized after his health deteriorated.

The former president has been put on a ventilator in an American hospital in Dubai.

His family members have reportedly flown to Dubai to see him.

As soon as he was hospitalized, rumors regarding Musharraf’s death started doing the rounds on social media. Senior Pakistani journalist and TV anchor Saleem said that Pervez Musharraf was ill but his sources told him that the former military ruler was not dead.

The 78-year-old self-exiled Pervez Musharraf ruled Pakistan from 1999 to 2008.

He had come into power by removing the then prime minister Nawaz Shareef in a bloodless coup.
